Eritrean Brigadier General Seeks Political Asylum in Sweden

Sept. 9, 2009

Brigadier General Tekeste Haile Tesfamichael, also named as Wodi Haile, a veteran freedom fighter of the

Eritrean People’s Liberation Front (EPLF), is applying for political asylum in Sweden in protest of the

repressive regime of Isayas.

Joined the Eritrean People’s Liberation Front in 1973, Brigadier General Tekeste was wounded eight times in

combat during the armed struggle for independence, the last one being severe.

Eritrean People’s Party sources say the last injury took Brigadier General Tekeste to Italy for comprehensive

medical treatment.
